In the slums of Calcutta, three girls manage to rescue themselves by pursuing their dreams. “When the heart is hard and parched up, come upon me with a shower of mercy. When grace is lost from life, come with a burst of song. Come to me, my lord of silence, with thy peace and rest.” (R. Tagore) This is Kolkata: it vibrates on Tagore’s verses, it walks Gandhi’s steps, it breathes the love of Mother Teresa. It’s right here where Bharati, Rahima and Sumita were born: under a bridge, along the train station, in the red light zone. Their stories intertwine in the home of the Sisters of Providence, where dreams come true. Rahima became a flight stewardess. Sumita left her abusive husband. Unfortunately Bharati left us before the editing of the film was finished, leaving behind a son.
